CCR Question 2

Updated: Mar 17, 2019

Planning for the CCR

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

Who is your target audience? Think about the films similar to yours - who went to see them? Age, gender, ethnicity, social status, professional level, nationality, geographical location. Remember your film must be ‘commercial’, they must be aimed at a wide audience. Even if your film is unusual in its subject matter, you must talk about your target audience as being commercial and how you tried to target a wide audience.

We targeted our film towards a wide variety of audiences, C1, C2 and D social class. This meant that we would get a wider diversity of people to watch the film, which would help with the popularity and the promotion of the film. Some audiences may be able to relate to our storyline as a lot of school murders occur in American universities, colleges and schools. Which we represent in our film.

The distribution company that we chose to distribute our film is called ATT Distribution. The reason that we chose to have this company distribute our product is that the products that they produce always have a wide variety of audiences got to the cinema and viewing the film. So as we want our product to be successful we chose them. What other films have they distributed?

Where will your audience find out about your film? Consider different marketing strategies such as traditional film trailer, billboard, tv and print press, as well as more contemporary social media and viral marketing.

The audience that we have targeted will find out about our movie through social media such as, Twitter and Instagram. We will also produce a trailer to give audiences sneak peeks of the film which will grab their attention which will make them ant to watch the film and will also be leaving them with enigmas.

What is the distribution window for your film? Will it be released in cinemas, then DVD, then online, then on TV stations? Will it be straight to Netflix? Why did you make this decision and how does it help you to target your audience (see first Q above!).

We will be distributing our film to the cinema then on DVD, then online. Throughout this process we will be wanting to upload the film on to Netflix however when we first release it it will only be shown at cinemas because income for the movie will increase. The reason that We will not be putting the movie on tv is that tv isn't as popular these days. So instead of that, we will be adding it to Netflix later on in the year.

Where will your premier be? Country, location, cinema. Why did you choose this?

Our premier will be in America in LA. The reason for this is because most films are being premiered there and it is where most teens recognise and where we will get more engagement towards the film.

How will you utilize media synergy to increase your audience reach? Which companies will you collaborate with and why?

The way that we will be utilizing synergy to increase our audience reach is by having Halloween costumes. The reason for this is because our film is mainly surrounding Halloween. For example, our release date will be on October 31st, the scenes in the movie will be on October 31st. This means that the idea of costumes is suitable. I will be collaborating with The Costume Designers Guild to produce our products.

Post-release how will you sustain interest in your film? What aspects of the media will you use to attract an even wider audience?

The way that we will make sure that audiences are still attracted to the film is by our film having a possible sequel. If audiences enjoyed our first film then they will be interested to see what happens next.
